The design of bacula requires it. Bacula has three parts:
- The SD (storage daemon) is responsible for accessing the actual backup
tape (or file) and nothing else.
- The FD (file daemon) is responsible for accessing the data that is
being backed up or restored.
- The director tells the FD which

different location; the expectation is that you then manually check the
files and move the appropriate ones in the right place. You define the
location with the "Where" attribute in the restore job definition.

correct, which is why I put a "Enabled=no" in the job section of the
config files... which disables permanently. Or has been doing so so far.

with old unencrypted tapes. I think it would be good if one of the tools
that come with bacula would allow tapes to be encrypted - by reading
their data to disc, and writing them back with encrypted files. Would it

Use bscan to put the volume in the catalog or bextract to extract
files

to tge documentation, U type umount/update slots/mount and I always have
an I/O error.
