Hello,
I've been thinking about possible causes of "spurious" connection drops and
how to debug them.
As I have noted a number of times, the most likely culprit is a bad network
(in particular switches or ethernet cards that have bad firmware -- several
cases such as this are documented in the

Hello,
I really hate it when i try to respond to questions and when i do bacula
does not duplicate the error.
Brian, a status on the client showed that it never went down, i
restarted it manually with the flags you indicated and nothing more verbose
came through. Like Frank i

AFAIK, there is a big chapter in the manual on it that should be more
than sufficient. As for specific cookbooks or anything like that, you'd
have to use Google. I'm not sure that anyone has written one.

regretfully, the last time i tried bacula, i was not able to get a job to run.
i had the daemons talking, but alas, i was defeated (by what detail, i have
no idea).
i see in the supported operating systems page, that:
Windows Vista VSS (Volume Shadow Copy) is reported not to work with Bacula.

He, theoretically, should not need this if his retention times are set
properly, as the job will always automatically upgrade to full, unless
you have disabled this (if that's possible). I wouldn't plan my backups
that way, but he is onto something her

what does:
"status client=backup_titan" show?
Did you restart the bacula-fd service on the client?
Check the windows event viewer?
Re-start the bacula-fd.exe process from command line manually with -d99
-f -v ?

Hello,
I've got a bacula win32 2.03 client that has been backing up fine. This
morning it didn't and gave me a fatal network error. I'm open to
suggestions, i've confirmed that all the daemons are still running. Here's
an excerpt from my bacula log.

Hi *,
as my other mail shows I successfully used file retention top shoot my
food -- so I'm thinking of deactivating retention all together. What
is the value I must set for File and Job Retention, to disable it all
together?

Your Scheduled parameter mentioned in the Job defination of the client
should have a defination such as below :
Schedule {
Name = "EveryDays"
*Run = level=Full sun at 23:05*
Run = level=Incremental mon-sat at 23:05
}

Hi *,
I'm using bacula 2.0.3 with DVD-Rs as backup media.
Now I have the problem, that I need to restore files from a fileset
where the file information has been (partly[0]) pruned from the
database (too short File Retention...).
So I thought bscan is the way to go. The initial full backup spawn
