Dear Josh,
Thanks for releasing the vchanger script and HOWTO!
However, I found a problem around line 94:
# Create nextmag file to hold max magazine index used
if [ ! -f "${statedir}/nextmag" ]; then
echo 0 >"${statedir}/nextmag"
It created the nextmag file with content "0". That mak

Hi
We have an Ubuntu V6.06 (Dapper Drake) . The server is set up with Bacula
v1.38.11 to backup server data files. We are trying to set up Bacula to do
a full backup each night, and have set up 5 Pools, one for each working day
of the week with one tape labelled per pool, generally per

I found the problem. It was my tcp wrapper rules -- as earlier I didn't
realize the storage daemon communicated directly with the file daemon. (As
I thought all traffic went though director.) A reply on this thread

Right, though 'status dir' does use this info from the Schedule in the latest
1.39 beta, so that will now be more
Yes we could. It doesn't change the fact, in my opinion, that is it
wasteful to back up files that have not changed.

You could always do the checksum and copy before the backup.
Just dump the files to a different directory. Then copy the files that have
changed to the directory that gets backed up.

For us it's a problem because we are dumping out some very large
databases, some of which change daily but many which do not. We'd
like to dump the files out every night and just have bacula back up
the changed files. The unchanged files were recreated but are still
identical to previous ve

IIRC, though, this also ignores Storage/Device names in Schedule directives, so
this may be no more accurate than 'status dir'.

Hi,
Once a month I run a FULL backup of all my servers. The fileserver takes a long
long time so I start it on Friday and on saturday night, I run the other one. I
checked twice saturday if the job was running on the fileserver and everything
seemed OK. But then monday morning, the fileserver wa
As the subject. I've got several places where Bacula is used and

inserted regardless? i.e. blank tape/none-blank tape is inserted, bacula

Hi!
Bacula supported libraries had this entry listed:

I'm not using an auto changer, but have 4 LTO-IIIs. Can anyone

I have defined 4 devices (file directories) in sd.conf. Then in
dir.conf I have defined 4 different storage resources, each using a
separate device. Jobs have also been defined for different clients to
backup/restore to different storages.
Restore however, just choose the first storage/device res
I tried both possibility and "Invalid path given" I get always.
I don't know where can be a problem.

Bacula always says "Invalid path given".
Of course I am using comma in directory name.
