It might be a nice feature (wish list item?) for Bacula to at least recognize other tape formats (amanda, Arkeia, BackupExec, tar...) and report the type of tape, for example if one asked to label a foreign tape, and to not overwrite such a tape unless there was confirmation from the operator.
