In my case, I make the panel big expressly so the things in it will be big,
and highly visible.
Maybe this is the bigger problem?
Text is sized based on automatically configured DPI settings, so that the
size in 'points' matches a certain size as measured on the surface of the

im my opinion, indicators should be a compact block of icons on the top
right, leaving the middle part of the top edge free for content or
events related to date-time.

The same applies resizing problem applies when making panel smaller, instead of
icons being resized, their edges start to get trimmed out. Indicators should
support resizing.
