It seems a few people are in agreement with me here. Its awkward at present to have the whole of Thunderbird open on start-up, which is yet another reason to implement this feature in the future. This would be useful as well. In Windows, my mom is always forgetting how to check her emails. If

Thanks, I found a bug report on this and the bug has since been fixed. It now also notifies me of new messages and turns the envelope blue. However, I still need to have Thunderbird open for this to work, which makes it a bit pointless as the Unity launcher has the counter to also alert me of n
