Apoorva posted the correct item, which is the desired design for the
network indicator. We're currently implementing that, with Connection
Manager as a backend. It's not ready for prime time, but chat to Kalle
Valo if you're interested in helping out.

The drawback to wifi being disabled is the inability to list networks in
range. If I am disconnected I may still want to browse available networks.

enable/disable wifi item.
