A) That's old 11.04 screenshots. IIRC the lenses are to be movable to the
launcher in 12.04, not sure about filters as quicklists, through :P
B) How the filters act in 11.04 and 11.10 and 12.04 is exactly what you are
describing - selecting the "internet" filter will only show you internet
apps, t

The panel can't be movable due to three reasons:
A) The indicators are not designed for usage with vertical panel
B) The Dash button is on the top left on the launcher at Dash control
buttons (e.g. close and maximize) are on the left of the panel. What
happens if the panel is at the bottom? The Das

Dash button will go the the bottom left. When on clicks on the Dash the
control buttons will be on the panel in the top left which requires mouse
movement to change Dash size or close it (assuming if you cick the close

Plasma is the desktop shell for KDE, so in order to use the KDE apps
without it, you have to logout of KDE, log in in Unity and select the
default apps in your unity session to be the KDE ones - Dolphin, kate
etc... However i would not recommend that, because of two reasons:
