OK, Is there going to be some easy way to turn off the global menu?
It is already clear to me that I would never want to use it. I can
adapt to many of the features of Unity, but the global menu is such a
poor idea that I would love to be able to turn it off. For now, I

in Unity, shouldn't the Messaging menu indicator appear only once a
messaging application is up and running? i have neither a mail app nor an
instant messaging app running at the moment, still the envelope appears in
the panel.
While it improves discoverability for the launchers in the menu, it mak
