Here's a patch to make automake recognize the new autoconf macro,
AC_LIBOBJ, that encapsulates this sort of code:
AC_SUBST(LIBOBJS)
LIBOBJS="$LIBOBJS strftime.$ac_objext"
With AC_LIBOBJ, you just do this:
AC_LIBOBJ([strftime])
