I tested your patch and can confirm it works now. make -j3 passes all tests and
the build process successfully on automake-1.9.6.

after my yesterday's writing I found that I had had communicated a real
problem, but the wrong cause.
The point is:
I cannot compile successfully (or, better to say, I cannot run yacc6.test
successfully) if I am using
make -j3
