I use autoconf/make versions 2.52/1.6.1
The configure script created by the build system absolutely and completely fails on
systems with 2.13/1.4. In addition my configure.in fails when used with automake
1.7

since the version I started with, have been wonderful! Automake is HUGHLY important to
free-software (free as in freedom). However at this point it is also one of three
tools creating HUGH roadblocks for me and many others like me from getting involved in
open source projects.
Because of poor documentation...
