Yeah, but they really should bundle into a separate release, like:
Autoconf-2.57a
Or something like that.

Go to: ftp://alpha.gnu.org/pub/gnu/autoconf/
And download autoconf-2.57a. Yes, I know it's an alpha version. Yes, I know it
hasn't been updated since June 20th.
But I'm not an autoconf developer, so don't blame me.

I only use Linux in a limited manner, so I can't be much help to testing.
However, I do have a few programs that can't be compiled with 2.57 due to bugs in that
version. Worse still, I don't have CVS access (i.e. I don't think my browser supports
it) and I've given up on figuring it out because
ftp://alpha.gnu.org/pub/gnu/autoconf/
Download version 2.57a. Yes, I know it's alpha, but I'm pretty sure it fixes those
bugs.

Nobody uses autoconf on Windows. On Windows, people use Microsoft Installer or
InstallShield. Autoconf is exclusively for UNIX variants (Linux, *BSD, Solaris, SCO
UNIX, AIX, etc.)
