Hi Everybody!
I have some problems with echo and noises during calls. I played a bit with
echo_train and echo_taps but no change.
Have someone similar problems?
Here is my setup:
Chan_ss7 2.1.0
Asterisk 1.8.9.3
Dahdi 2.6.0
Sangoma A104 (No HWEC)
Wanpipe 3.5.25

Hello
Quick update... I think my problem is fixed. As Jorge was suggesting, the
echo canceller needs to be activated through the echocan command. I was
under the wrong impression that the HW EC was starting automatically, and
did not need any activation command.

All : many thanks for your replies - I havent replied before as I was trying
to get an environment where I can reproduce this echo. Only some progress so
far.
A few questions re your comments:
- is there a way to disable via software the VPM module ? I take the
suggestion of removing physically
I suggest to also upgrade DAHDI to the latest version which contains
newer firmware for the VPMADT032.

Try removing the hw echo card. Normally axe 10 should handle the echo issue.

Subject: [asterisk-ss7] echo on a SS7/E1
Hello
I have the following setup:
Ast1.6.1.18+Chan-SS7 1.3
Is there not a different way to do that, ie:
echocancel=31speech or
echocancel=always
combined with:
echocan_taps=32
echocan_train=350
Is chan_ss7 using your VPMADT032 at all?
How do you tell whether you are using s/w echo or the hardware module?
jorge.

Hello
I have the following setup:
Ast1.6.1.18+Chan-SS7 1.3 --> TE221 Board + VPMADT032 hw echo canceller -->
E1 to Mobile MSC E/// AXE10
I assume the hardware module is detected as the following message appears:
wcte12xp: VPM present and operational (Firmware version 117)

Hi Matthew,
No problem, it works, problem was coming from my provider.

It's possible that there is a code patch that I neglected to activate
the echo canceller on. One way to check is to do an "d
Since yesterday, we experience echo problems.
Not sure that's SS7 side but I'd like to know how to know if Echo
Canceller is activated or not.
Using Asterisk SVN-trunk-r136349, libss7-trunk and chan-dahdi.
Kind regards,

I saw this in another thread. Don't you need a patch for this to make
it work? Is the patch already included in 0.90?

I have an asterisk box connected for sometime now to an ss7 network.
One of the issues I have sometimes is echo. Is there a way to enable
echocancellation in chan_ss7? I'm using chan_ss7 0.90 and asterisk

Hi there,
I got another question.
We use several digium cards without hardware echo cancelation.
The software echo cancelation does not work well at the moment - especially
at
the beginning of the call. I already read the articels about echo on
voip-info.
Is there a rule of thumb or best practice

Hi
May I know if there is a particular settings that I
need to set for echo cancellation in the chan_ss7.
