t some help with this issue. I'm out of ideas... The only
workaround to me would be to block the only PCI-Slot on the mainboard with a
dedicated PCI-soundcard... I would really like to avoid that.

for some reason my onboard soundcard outputs a constant background noise.
It's not loud but it's loud enough to be disturbing while having my headset

I have a fresh installation of debian testing (lenny) on a Sony Viao
VGN-FZ31Z.
Alsa has installed correctly but has left me with two problems.
1) The laptop speakers work fine but when i plug headphones into the
laptop sound continues to come from the onboard speakers and not the
headphones.
Capture device rather than the main Master
volume as it did before.
Is there a way to specify a default device for volume control?
