I read about bug fixes for alsa when using ladspa plugins and
multi-channel audio. My setup is kernel 2.6.21.7 with alsa-lib
(1.0.17a). However, I'm wondering what if any other alsa packages I'm
required to upgrade in order for ladspa multi-channel plugins to work?

I'm setting up ALSA to allow for multiple non root users to
similtanously access audio (meaning I'm using dmix).
I've been doing some reading and it seems I need to do the following.
1) "ipc_perms" to "0666" (or similar to allow non root access)
2) "ipc_key_add_uid" to "false"
3) "chmod" the f
For alsa-lib-1.0.17rc2 the dmix plug-in is enabled by default (for the
default "stereo" device). Would anybody know which setting I must
override in /etc/asound.conf file to enable dmix for the surround51
device (among others)? I wish to be able to open any of the : stereo,
surround40, or surround5
