Can this card work with ALSA? I have not been able to get it too.

It is ridiculous for M-Audio, which is probably a very wealthy
company, to not even let their products work with Linux. M-Audio's
drivers are not good for Windows, either- which is a shame, seeing, as
the hardware seems to be good quality.

linux/version.h does not exist.
Please install the package with full kernel sources for your distribution
or use --with-kernel=dir option to specify another directory with kernel
sources (default is /usr/src/linux).
