I have managed to get my Creative Extigy card to work using alsa and
playback with ogg123 etc works fine.
Now I would like to be able to record using the Extigy which is connected to
my audio setup using an optical cable.
I used the "amixer" tool to see what channel was selected

For months I have been fighting with hacked OSS USB-Audio drivers under a
2.4.X kernel trying to get my Extigy to work.

2.6.1
I am just using a vanilla source tree, and the default ALSA code that comes
out of the box.
My target machine is running Debian Linux (the unstable branch).
