Hello, again,
I have written to linux forum and verified that
with Ensoniq 5880B [AudioPCI] on real computer with 2.6.30 it works
correctly.
I am using it in LinuxFromScratch in VMWare. So maybe this is the problem.

Hey Alsa-Users list,
I have been trying to get help via the distro forums for KnoppMyth(Now
LinHES) but i'm not having much luck there. Forgive me for the forum
copy & paste, but i'm really hoping there is something simple I can do
like recompile the kernel to get this working. Copying the ubuntu

By the way, you can still play mlp audio (true hd) if you have a nvidia card.
Multichannel hdmi is now supported and will probably be in next kernel
release.
Using the repository version of nvhdmi I'm able to play mutlichannel mlp
tracks in 96/24 :) :) :)

I'm not sure about this, but I think there still aren't hdmi cards supporting
hd codecs in bitstream. Neither the ps3 has!

I am in a similar situation.
I've installed Slack 12.2 (all packages for simplicity) onto a HP 6730s
laptop with an integrated Intel HD audio in it. I have no sound from the
builtin speakers while aplay or mpg123 looks like playing normally. If I
plug in a headphone I can hear sound which is pl
Hello,
I'm running on a debian lenny workstation the Creative Labs SB Audigy LS
Soundcard, but there comes no sound out. (I'm almost frustrated)
Speakers are connected well and power on.
I don't have anymore idea where to search the error, could you please

Turn on the sound card? Ie run say alsamixer and turn up the sound on the PCM
slider?
Since you tell us nothing whatsoever about what you have done, we can
only assume you have tried nothing yet.

I'm using alsa under Debian Lenny. I don't know whether i have flaky
hardware ( Intel 82801CA-ICH3 ) but i find that playing sound files
works only intermittently. When it doesn't work, aplay and speaker-test
both hang with no sound. I can fix this by running alsaconf, but that's
a pain as it is in
I turned the soundcard on running alsamixer

OK, are you trying to run it using oss or alsa (ie what programs are you
running to try out the sound card?) Try for example to do
aplay /usr/share/sounds/KDE_Beep_Ahem.wav
(or any other .wav file on your system).
Open alsamixer and push up all of the sliders to max and make sure that

Hi Clemens,
Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it did not work. Disabling
Headphone Jack Sense resulted in playback into both the headphone and the

I'm trying to run alsa.
(I'm using KDE)
For example, want to play a movie file (movie.avi) with the
video-player. (no sound, picture yes)
