Sound is from Linux kernel 2.6.21.1.
As long as I prevent loading the sound modules, beeping works (yes,
the pcspkr-module is loaded).
As soon as I load sound modules:
snd_pcm_oss40096 0

Hello again. I'm sorry to say I'm still strugglig on with this problem.
Further to previous emails, I finally managed to disable OSS
completely - by removing the file 'oss' from the init.d directory.
This made things a bit better, ie it seemed to give fewer errors, and
I was able to start kmix pr
