I'm trying to record audio from Roland VS-880EX Workstation by optical
cable using the iec958 input of my Aureon (ice1724) soundcard. I only
get loud noise recorded. I could not hear any music through the
recorded noise and it seems not to depend on whether the VS880 output
any sound or not. W

My uptime in Linux doesn't really go over 2 days... why ?
Because there is some very deep driver issue with my audio hardware,
VIA 8237 audio.
That is when working, my sound system suddenly fails, and starts to
produce noise. - the problem is so deep that even "init 6" - full
restart doe
