Thanks for the answer. But I have not understood, whether it is
possible to carry out a choice default sound device by enviroment
variable (maybe through plugins). If it you probably could give an
example.On 4/10/06, Clemens Ladisch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Hi Harold,
according to the mic8 manual it is not possible to connect both, the mic8 and
the breakout box. They say that this might damage the ews88mt card. So you
can only have 8ins +spdif. The only way to get more ins is to use multiple
ews88mt cards I think.

Tell your program to use device "plughw" instead of "default":
ALSA_PCM_DEVICE=2 mpg321 -o alsa09 -a pl

Hi again,
I was able to solve the problem, I thought it would maybe a good idea
to post it here if someone maybe search the archives in future having
the same problem.
In /etc/modprobe.conf the module for the sound-card was specified
"snd-intel8x0", however the right name is of the appropriate mo

HI
Just for conclusion, I am sorry I doubted alsa code. It was my MIDI
cable. And yes the MIDI port on SB-Live seems to be working out of the
box with alsa. No configurations are necessary.
Thanks for help. (I have to learn that it is always hardwares fault)

as I'm usng ALSA 1.0.11, I'm experimenting with setting up dsnoop
explicitly. but it just doesn't seem to work.
