Haha! ...
I took a look at that file and it's just and older version of
alsa-driver.
Here is what I was missing in my modules.conf (i.e. module options):
options snd-via82xx index=0 id="VIA"
After I put that in an reloaded the modules everything worked like a
charm with the latest alsa release.

Hi,
A while ago i posted a question about a compiling that went wrong.
Some other people have posted mailings on broken compile actions too, but i
haven't seen an answer.
Is this the right list to post this questions, or should it been posted on
the developers list?
Or is sombody of the develop

I wrote a brief document to explain the OSS-emulation of ALSA on the

Wonder if anyone can offer setup / install advice ...
I'm trying to set up the ALSA system but am getting some persistent
glitches : primarily sound quality that "breaks up" or fragments when
the musical content begins to grow complex or volume increases beyond a
certain point. The following error
trying to build from cvs snapshot to fix ice1712 issues -
i'm using the alsa/build script, but it complains there's no ./configure
in alsa-driver - i don't see this in any of the module dirs.
how can i fix this?
thanks

On a new laptop (VPR Matrix 200, made by Best Buy of all people, and so far excellent,
only Linux stumbling block has been sound) I have tried with 9.0rc6 and all 2.5
kernels after 2.5.50 and either the system will hang trying to get the codec loaded
and will invariably fail with:

Last night I finally had the chance to do some updates on my favorite machine at

a) Upgraded kernel from kernel-2.4.18-18.8.0 to kernel-2.4.18-19.8.0 (athlon)
b) Upgraded alsa-driver from alsa-driver-0.9.0-fr0rc6.1 to
