I had the same problem. Then I downloaded the latest 0.9.0beta12 and
had no problem! try beta12 version!

i forgot to mention the debian(unstable) package alsa-drivers is beta10
and yesterday i did an upgrade and i think its beta11 now.
i would prefer the debian package version if possible.
the alsa page is in fact kind of cryptic there. hardly a mention of
kernel above 2.2 just the piece about mergi
