Looking at the INSTALL file at ALSA sources I found that your card receive similar
parameters as the one I have, I think you should write a /etc/modules.conf file like
his:
#ALSA Configuration
alias char-major-116 snd
options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1
alias snd-card-0 snd-e

Curiosly I just configure my card ES-1869 in a Compaq Armada-3500 this early morning
(2 am), and I found that my problem was the IRQ I was using. Could you send me your
modules.conf? I'll take a look and tell you what could be probably wrong.
