Thanks to Stephane and Lee for helping out. I was able to get both of their recommended solutions working (Stephane - OSS, Lee - JACK). However being as stubborn as I am I was determined to getting it to work using only .asound.rc, so here it is

I am able to play and record using plughw:0,0. My main issue is that I am only able to record the first 2 channels with this solution. I need to record all 4 input channels and I have no idea how to do this. I figured I would play with the
