Just a shot across the bow, I tried to compile alsa-drivers
(1.0.11rc2) outside of the tree using the devfs removed 2.6.15 git
branch. After the drivers are installed they won't work (complains
about missing symbols iirc); although if you compile against a vanilla
kernel they will work in a devfs-r

However, I'm having a really difficult time getting Alsa + devfs to play
nice on my work machine (with an ens1371 card)...
These are the modules I have load
I think these lines are included in the default devfsd.conf that
comes with devfsd...
