Hi! I guess you work with orca? Ever suspected festival? I had some trouble with it. But I can't tell you what I did then, because now, I only use JACK. Maybe that's an alternative? Configure your asound.conf so, that the "!default" PCM-device is just passed to JACK and then start JACK. JA
