just a note... i had this problem too but only with alsa-oss 0.9rc1 i found it was because mandrake uses version numbers for autoconf... something like autoconf-1.4 or whatever... as soon as i re-worked the symlinks in the files it compiled fine... cant remember which ones they were exactly but i
