ALSA has an OSS emulation, so you can still use your old apps.

I'm a linux guy, but a newbie to the sound/multimedia
stuff. I'm trying to set up a timeshifting FM radio
kinda thing.
Here's my setup ...

. alsa-0.9.6
. the motherboard has on-board audio,
but i've been using a Turtle Santa Cruz Card.
