If it is not a hardware feature it must be software. I studied the

This is not how the hardware works; it would happily move lots of zeros
around.

Hi all,
at the beginning of april I reported problems with recording from an
analog source with the Xonar DX2. I got the advice to use the line input
and later on aplifying the signal by digital means. I tried so and it
seemed to be ok.
Now I have some more time and tried to do a complete recordi

The Aux input goes through a very crappy analog mixer (a CM9780).

Hi Clemens,
increasing the volume at the source is not possible, neither the
turntable nor the amplifier/equalizer have any knob to turn.
What do you mean with "the D2X has lots of headroom"?

The line input expects a line level signal.
If possible, increase the volume at the source. Otherwise, do this
with the recorded file;
Hi Chris,
yes, thank you, my original problem can be considered as solved.
I use a special box which does the equalisation. I used it in former
times with former soundcards and it worked very fine. But with that
former soundcards I could use a slider in the mixer to get more or less
input "gain?"

Thanks very much, Clemens,
I misunderstood the meaning of that switch. So I couldn't record
anything. Now microphone works as well. When using audacity for
recording from a vinyl disc (with pre-amplifier) over line input I only
get a lower medium signal. Is there a chance to raise it?

This is OK.

But this makes you record the analog output instead.

Thanks Clemens,
this is output of "amixer contents":

I don't know what the Windows driver does with those sliders, but the
hardware has only one mic channel.

Thank you Chris! How can we start?
Is there anybody out there using a D2X with/without Problems? What is
your mixer offering? Can you use microphone and line in? How many
channels?

Hi,
I bought a new motherboard with AMD 64-bit and with Realtek ALC 892
sound onboard. My system is Debian squeeze with Alsa version 1.0.23 and
the sound module was was not to be found in the alsa list of supported
soundcards. I have had lots of trouble with soundcards in the past, so I
