Bil Unruh: Sorry for my choice of words. What I meant with "arecord | aplay" not doing what it should was that I could not hear myself when talking. Those two commands should output everything that goes to the microphone and I could not hear anything. Furthermore, the laptop does have a sound card.

Hello everyone, I have installed a fresh Debian Wheezy on an Asus EEE 1001PX and I cannot figure out how to get the darn microphone to work. I first noticed this with Skype, but after reading forums and trying out stuff I stumbled upon the "arecord | aplay" combo which seems to not do what it shou
