I also have this setup - on a Dell M2010 running Ubuntu 8.04
I'm unable to get any sound from the on-board speakers - only the

My alsa-info is at: http://pastebin.ca/1000180
There's also a codecgraph output svg at http://www.box.net/shared/5jpeiw800o

Hi, Roger, and Chris. The alsa lib didn't show up because the package in
Debian is called libasound and didn't show up in dpkg -l | grep alsa, but
it's 1.0.16 too:
$ dpkg -l | grep asound

alsa-utils 1.0.16-1
And /proc/asound/version s

Hello, I have an Intel D945GTP board with onboard sound, a Intel HDA card
which uses the SigmaTel STAC9221 A1 codec. I'm not even sure about what I'm
saying. I just tried to digest lscpi, dmidecode and /proc/asound/.
The point is that I have no feedback of Mic nor Line input. Input works, and I
