I don't know what I did (if I did) but my two cards have swapped their
numbers although they are still listed in /etc/modules.conf at their origin
numbers.
Is there any other possibility that could change cards numbers other than
numbering in /etc/modules.conf:
alias sound-slot.x snd-card-x
