Hi,
This error often means problem with IRQ (interupt from soundcard is not
generated).

Running FC5 on an IBM Thinkpad 570; sound worked fine previously. Now
I get no sound, have fiddled with alsamixer extensively. When I play
with ogg123 I get: ALSA write error: Input/output error, need a HUP
signal to terminate the messages. Exactly the same problem when run
as root
