Thanks, I give it a try! I dont know why I did not consider it but it
seems to be perfect for my purposes.
I gues I am one of the very few people who use SOX. So thank you all for
your kind help on a subject that rather seems to be related to a
(missing) SOX documentation than to ALSA!

sox infile -t alsa -w -s plughw:1,1
does not immediately work. There is a syntax-error and I get
sox: Can't open input file 'infile': No such file or directory
But in the meantime I figured out the code that works for me:
sox -t alsa -w -s plughw:1,1 -t cdr ... (then I pass the out

The only documentation I know is the man-page and there current example
on how to use sox on ALSA there is
Example: sox infile -t alsa -w -s /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p

I would like to record Radio (TV is not very important) directly from
the TV-Card without passing the Sound through my Soundcard first.
Normally (with PCI-Soundcards) have have to connect Analog Audio OUT of
the TV-Card with a cable to Analog IN of your soundcard and additionally
the mixer
