think its quake3 related...their new PR1.3.1 for q3 broke my then
working sound using my TBaureal card (au8830) so I had to give up on
it...so

well I dont' know ..does alsa put anything in /lib/modules..and even so
if they do I did put my modules.conf back to normal and have since done
make_module and install yes :)...

I tried alsa but gave up when I couldn't get to work but i'm wondering
about where on earth the driver might still be loading as I think its
conflicing with my other card from working right again...
my current card's driver has always loaded right but refuses saying:

I've tried alsa-driver/libs 0.9.0beta10 and while driver went in the
libs choked...so i tried 0.5.12b and while the libs went in the driver
has choked with:

(thx for any assistance i'm getting tired of guessing which alsa version
to try next!! )

I finally got sound working but after a run of a sound app and subsequent forced
restart it's not working any

I didn't have alsa-libs or alsa-utils so got those and compiled and was
fine.also to note I grabbed alsa0.9.0beta10 if it matters as I've seen others have
had trouble with same one just beta9 ??..and I have kernel 2.4.17 on RH7.2 and ymf740c.
