I know I have asked this before but I never get any answer.
How do I get a RME Hammerfall Lite card to play a stereo file? My
speakers are on the coax S/PDIF. I hear mono files on one speaker
nicely, but stereo files are played to somewhere unknown. I assume
that I need an asoundrc file, but wh

I "upgraded" to 0.9.5 and now I have nothing working at all. I seem
to remember that the snd-hammerfall-mem module had gone (and indeed it
does not exist now) so the configure says
alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-rme9652
etc
but it claims to be unable to start:

I have rebooted my machine and the module is now loaded.

I am frequently seeing message about errors which get the response
like this one:
"0.9.0beta12 does not include the -card- in module names."
Would it be a good idea to change the INSTALL file to draw attention
to this change?

Alsa-use
The first attempts gave me s single channel. I started again from
0.9.0beta12 with
./configure --with-oss=yes --with-sequencer=yes --with-cards=rme9652
The make install was OK, but when I try alsasound restart or
/sbin/modprobe snd-rme9652 I get
Starting sound driver: snd-rme9652 /lib/modu
I was going to ask about audio on ThinkPad. I have an X22 but I do
not know what the sound system is. Can I assume a CS46XX, or is there
a way can find out which card-driver to use?

I have a Hammerfall Lite on a RedHat6.2 system. The problem I have is
how to get to play a stereo file. I get one channel on the S/PDIF but
nothing on the other one. I do not use the ADAT interface at present
-- nothing to attach it too -- but I would like to hear both channels
of a stereo file
