k (hope) the 64-bit audio kernels would work fine.
Maybe this is an alsa issue. I do know the WAV file plays fine using
aplay (without jackd running) -- I can't seem to pipe (or route) this
WAV file into anything and have it come out undistorted.

(500MHz G3 running Debian).
I'm using the 0.9 version of ALSA and have tried today's CVS snapshot as
well as the release candidate. I even had a quick go at 0.5 but discovered
that it didn't come with the required snd-po
