I have a USB turntable and a Creative EMU10K1 sound card. I can hear
system sounds, CDs and DVDs through the EMU10K1. I can record from the
USB turntable with arecord (or Audacity) and I can play back the
recording with aplay. I cannot just play a record on the turntable and
hear it through my

gray hair and go buy a SoundBlaster.

OK, I'm done with this card.
Can someone (developer?) recommend a sound card that actually works with
ALSA-1.0.x and linux-2.6.x? I need OSS support (for a couple of games)
and sequencer, midi might be nice but I don't need anything too fancy
(read expensive).
Thanks,
Rick Knig

If I start TiMidity as a server with "timidity -iA -B2,8-Os" I get 4
midi ports, 128:0 - 128:3 and I am able to play .mid files with "pmidi

P.S. If anyone here disagrees with my statements above, I have two sound
cards that do not work correctly under ALSA. One of which works
flawlessly under OSS (in the kernel sources, not commercial). Get either
of them to work in ALSA and I'll ch
nd and replaced it with a
Sound Blaster Live Value. I still don't have sound. I'm hoping someone
here will be able to help with the Sound Blaster. The Intel seems too
problematic.
Good Luck,

OK. I've turned off my onboard Intel8x0 soundcard and installed a
SoundBlaster Live Value (Digital) card. I've rebuilt the kernel
(2.6.3) to remove the Intel8x0 and add the emu10k1 module. I've
removed intel8x0 from everywhere I can think of. I've update
but I still can't get any sound. I have only one error in my
logs and it pertains to midi.
I've checked the card in Win2000 and it works fine and is configured for
analog output.
Can someone please help me to get this card going? I've attached

Any help will be much appreciated.

Besides modules.conf, where can I load or configure mpu401.
On 2.6 kernels, it's modprobe.conf.

That did work, sound works now, but no improvement over 1.0.2c. I still
get mpu401 port errors when I try to use oss emulation with wine. As far
as I know, I don't need

I expect some problems but...

I've attached the output of modprobe snd-intel8x0 and dmesg. I hope you

I think this is an ALSA/Intel8x0 problem, but I have also posted in the

Can someone here tell me if this problem can be fixed and how to do it?
