I spent the remaining two days trying to configure my SbLive card to
make it work with surround40 (or any of the other surround options,
really...). The thing is, before my kernel-update to 2.4.23 and an
installation of the ALSA 1.0.0rc1 surround was working...
I tried reinstalling ALSA
