The major thing you've missed is that i810_audio module is an OSS module.
To use alsa you must substitute i810_audio for snd-intel8x0 module in your
modules.conf and try again

Seems that the problem is in the pci irq routing which should be done through acpi on
this laptop.
Appy latest patches from acpi.sf.net and try again with alsa;
no any "PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin .." messges should be present in dmesg
after it.

I was faced the similar problem on the similar software configuration (but with
alsa0.9.2 instead of 0.9.4),
and I fixed this by installing the latest 0.9.5 drivers.
My hardware was: ASUS P4S533MX motherboard with
