all attempts to capture sound from my Hauppauge Nova S-Plus TV card did
fail with an Input/Output error:

I would like to record from my microphon. When I use "arecord test.wav"
the file is 44 bytes long and contains no input.
In alsamixer I have "Capture", "Capture 1" and "Capture 2" all set to
100% and enabled the Capture (there is a red label saying CAPTURE

kernel 2.4.18 on suse 8.0. Sound out works, Digital in loop through to
Digital works, but I cannot get ac3 through Digital out.
