Can anyone comment on the practical limit to the number of
channels/cards when using the snd-ice1712 driver? I'd like to put as
many M-Audio Delta 1010 LT cards in one PC as possible. Will I be
constrained only by PCI bus bandwidth/card slots, or is there another
limit that I'll reach first?

Thanks for the heads up. I couldn't find the patch you mentioned, but
I'm familiar with one that patched some portion of the configure
process in 1.0.14. If that's the patch you were referring to, I don't
think it's related to my current problem. At any rate, I've found

I'm trying to use the alsa jack plug to route audio though a jack
server. I followed the instructions here:

My .asoundrc contains the settings given on that page. I start the
jack server just fine:
$ jackd -d alsa hw:0 -r 44100 &
[1] 3222
jackd 0.1
I have an AC'97 based onboard sound card in my system (snd_intel8x0
driver). I'm using it in 6ch mode to drive two front speakers, two
rear speakers and a subwoofer and center channel. Using speaker-test
with the surround51 plug (or any other alsa program with that plug) to
send audio to channel 5
