I'm currently using an SBLive! Value (original bog-standard
part), and the snd-emu10k1 module from alsa-driver-0.9.8 can't
seem to load it. :/
My current configure command is as follows:
./configure \
--prefix=/usr \
--sysconfdir=/etc \
--localstatedir=/var \
--with-isap
like).
Plug the cable into one of these other connectors, and chances
are, CD audio won't work.
These details are often forgotten by hobbyists who build their
own systems. Even OEMs or white-box computer shops sometimes
neglect that cable...

mixer state. If you have a SysV-style init (like RedHat, SuSE,
or any LSB-compliant distro), the "alsasound" init script
(usually located in /etc/init.d or /etc/rc.d/init.d) can take
care of running alsactl automatically on system boot and system
shutdown.

This happens on kernel 2.4.18+SGI XFS 1.0.2+RML's preemptible kernel patch.
The card works fine with OSS, and it worked reasonably well with alsa 0.5.x.
