Hello list,
I'm running into a very strange problem with a52 sound output: I had it
all setup and working (http://johannes-bauer.com/dolby/) but had to
reinstall my system completely as I had an architectural upgrade (I'm
now on a Core2 Duo Gentoo system, -march=nocona).

Have you had a look at the Terratec soundcard line? I believe some have
Coax SPDIF output. Mine (the Aureon 5.1) only has optical fiber output.

You are exactly right! It is a CMIPCI.
But are you sure it only has one DAC?

Hello list,
there's another problem I encountered with the a52 plugin *sigh*... I
have it setup so it does routing and then A52 encoding. Everything works
beautifully using xmms. Some movies play just fine with mplayer. Others
don't. I have no idea why.
When a movie doesn't play, it shows weird b

Hello list,
is there a plugin which does the opposite of the "multi" plugin, i.e. it
should duplicate a stream and have multiple slaves (one stream to multiple)?
The reason I'd need this: default goes (over some corners) to the
softvol plugin, which goes to route which encodes a A52 stream. Now I

Alright, I got this running for my Gentoo box...

Hello list,
I'm trying to get my surround system working, especially routing the 5.1
channels I have when there is only a stereo playback. This means that
the rear speakers and (especially) the subwoofer should output something
when I play "normal" music.
What I've got working so far: When playin
Hello list,
upon fiddling with my ALSA config and through the conversation with Adam
Nielsen I encountered that when using the OSS kernel driver emulation
for ALSA (i.e. not the userland "aoss" emulation) the profile which is
stored in /etc/asound.conf is ignored.
This seems logical, as kernel ac
Hello list,
I have recently switched to a 5.1 Dolby Digital system and was surprised
how nicely everything worked with ALSA. There is however one problem
which I have - read through a lot of forums, but did not find a
satisfying answer.
I'm using my soundcards (Terratec Aureon 5.1 = C-Media Elect
