Added acpi=off to LILO and rebooted.
/var/log/messages indicates "ACPI: disabled by cmdline, exiting"
No change in audio behavior.

What would cause the process to freeze and be stopped like is indicated
above? What can I do? Any suggestions?

I had already built and just now rebuilt again the alsa libs. My grep
gives me the following:
I get:
# default with dmix & dsnoop
strings [ "dmix:" $CARD ",FORMAT=S32_LE" ]
Everything appears OK but the d
a receiver attached with cables to both the coaxial and optical
ports. The receiver never indicates it is getting a digital signal. I
know the receiver works, as I can get the SoundBlaster Live 24-bit card
to work just fine in both analog and digital modes.

Yes I know. I'm running a locally built 1.0.11rc3 copy. If anybody can
give me some hints on where to look or things to try I can help here
(I'm a developer).

Has anyone else gotten the digital to work on the Prodigy 7.1 LT card?
