yes. i just ran it again an hour ago, same problem.
I notice when gdm2 starts(or X), i hear a sound pop, like some daemon is
starting.
however, i "esd" or "arts" is not listed in processes.

I'm using alsa with audigy, and real player and other oss programs won't
work.
I get this also...
[root@localhost lunarbard]# cat la.wav > /dev/dsp
cat: write error: Invalid argument
[root@localhost lunarbard]#
oss modules do not load unless i do it manually
despite this in modules.conf
# ---
I can't use real player or mixers!
what is going on?

modules.conf entries for latest alsa and audigy? Opensource drivers won't

You want to look through the recent emu10k1-devel mailing-list
postings and read up on how to download and compile the audigy branch of
the
drivers -- doing a test search on "Audigy" should do the trick...

This is from creative guy. Can alsa support be added soon? I want to buy
an audigy.
--
Yes. There is a branch of the emu10k1 driver which handles Audigy -- head
on
over to opensource.creative.com and check it out. For more information on
compiling the driver for Audigy, you might want to
Does alsa support sblive! audigy yet? Will firewire port on it work in
linux?
