I upgraded today to 2.6.3-ben2 on my powerbook and the mixer (alsamixer or
oss layer) doesn't do anything there is a constant very low volume (with
2.6.3 kernel alsa and with 1.0.3 from alsa-project.org) cvs gives me:

which one should I get ? I guess the maudio is supported pretty well in
current cvs + midi should be working ... anyone knows what the latencies
are like ? are the outputs loud enough to connect headphones ?
The emagic emi 2|6m would be a better choice for me since it offers a
minijack headph

did you look at /proc/interrupts ?
I had to disable acpi (also IRQ9) on my vaio to get rid
of the constant dac blocked msgs pd spit out.
