I think I've got it. It seems to be simply an ordering issue within the
unit file. Moved the Preferred Sync Source one step down and it seems to
work now. Needs some more testing, though.

I've been scratching my head for the last couple of days due to
crackling playback after boot.
I have a very simple unit file, that however does not seem to work. The
